Fake Atlas Chooty pens seized

The Pettah Police recently seized a large stock of counterfeit Atlas Chooty Pens, officials of The Ceylon Pencil Company Ltd told reporters this week.

The outward appearance of the fake pens is similar to the originals. However they can be told apart by the fact that the colours of the former-the cap, the nose corn, the back plug and even the pack holding the pens- are of a duller, lighter colour that the original. The quality and writing length is also less. Officials said the imitations which are sold at a lower price by the distributors to retailers carry the brand name “Atlas Chooty”.

The company said it is offering a cash reward of Rs. 100,000 for any creditable information that would lead to successful persecution of the perpetrators. The Atlas Chooty brand is owned by Ceylon Pencil Company Ltd. (TR)
