Intel spearheads education initiative in Sri Lanka

Intel and Sri Lanka’s Education Ministry recently felicitated 75 teachers from the Western Province at an event in Colombo while announcing at the same time the selection of Sri Rahula Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Malabe as a model school for implementing the Intel Teach programme successfully.

The teachers successfully completed a 60-hour intensive training programme organized by Intel Teach in collaboration with the Ministry of Education under the Secondary Education Modernization Project which aims to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process to improve the same, according to an Intel press release.

Intel’s main programme in Sri Lanka is the Intel Teach programme which has been deployed in the Western, Central and Uva provinces with support from the Ministry of Education.

The programme – the most successful professional development programme of its kind - was launched over a decade ago and is designed to help teachers around the world integrate technology into classrooms. To date, the programme has trained more than four million teachers in more than 40 countries, including Sri Lanka.
