When the going gets rough police get tough

Kandy police have been ordered to shoot on sight any fleeing robbers or criminals, Chief Inspector Anuruddha Bandaranayaka said. The decision has been taken in the aftermath of an increase in the number of robberies in and around the city.

According to police about Rs. two million in cash and other gold items have been reported robbed from houses in the past few months. Meanwhile in a bid to check on robberies during the Christmas season, armed policemen and law enforcement officers in civvies would patrol the streets of Kandy.
