‘Neth’ foresees a bright future

'Neth', one of the latest FM radio channels which celebrates its second anniversary has won the hearts of millions of listeners reaching number four in the ratings. According to the records of LMRB rating, the widely accepted rating company, 'Neth' has reached number 4 with a listenership of 2,170,500. After competing with twenty other Sinhala radio channels.

Started on November 3, 2005, the channel has proved that it is one of the fast growing radio channels winning the hearts of its listeners."Neth filled the void for a radio channel which is different to the present FM radio culture," Asanga Jayasuriya, Chief Executive Officer of Neth FM said.

Neth Team-Assistant General Manager, Nuwan Liyanage, Senior Manager (programme) Chandima Dharshanath, Chief Executive Officer, Asanga Edirisuriya and Chairman, Nihal Seneviratne.

"A programme like 'Meth Neth Pamula' a religious programme with a series of sermons by Ven. Dodampahala Sri Rahula Thero has become the highest listenership radio programme and some of the other radio stations started to follow our concept" "This proves that we were able to make a change in the medium and we succeeded in our endeavour to create a listener-friendly media culture," Mr. Jayasuriya added.

"The 24-hour news service by the channel has won the confidence of people and it has proved that the channel is not a mouthpiece for any politician or political party and it only stands for the masses," Chandima Dharshanath, Senior Manager said describing its programme.

With the intention of people friendly radio channel, Neth FM has introduced a number of new programmes like 'Aramuna' every Sunday 9 am to 12 pm, 'Athdutuwai Prathyakshayai' on every weekday from 9.30 am to 11am and children's propramme like "Kalabala Pancha" which is broadcast on Saturday and Sunday morning from 6.45 am to 8 am to create a responsible younger generation to this country, Mr. Dharshanath said. Now with the website, www.nethfm.com all the Sri Lankan around the world can listen to the Neth FM throughout the day.
