New acts by ‘MAXxHIBIT’

Maxxhibit is a contemporary hip-hop band, which produces a wide range of music for the younger generation. ‘We decided to get into the music industry considering our personal interest and talent in this field. Our fascination was further developed by performing at our School and Interact functions’ said the leader Shehan.

Shehan, Achintha, Gayan and Dilnuwan launched their debute hit single ‘Virtual Girl’ in 2004. This track is a reflection of their pure Sri Lankan culture, with a blend of hip-hop. Next was ‘Kelle Numba We’ in which theyincluded some Punjabi beats along with the original essence of hip-hop. This track was mixed in the 'SaReGaMa' studios, which is owned by BnS.

‘The music and lyrics of all these songs were produced solely by us and the tracks became so highly popular that they are still being played on some of the leading radio stations’ he added. ‘We were invited to perform at a few highly-popular concerts, at which, our songs were instantly accepted by the audience. Also, we were interviewed by several TV programmes, such as Sirasa TV's Mixbag’ he explained.

The band also have an unreleased track, ‘Sithuwam Kala Adarei’, which is to be released during the festive season. This has a mixture of classical Sri Lankan beats as well as a taste of the Opera style. The Opera bit of the song is sung by the leading singer of Kemadasa's Choir, Subudhi.

‘Our main ambition is to make different styles of music, which pleases the ears of anyone who listens to it. We also hope to experiment with various forms of technology and styles in order to generate diversely fresh sounds’ And in the future, we promise to come up with more hits in audio as well as video formats. So, watch out for a breakthrough album in the future!
