Bimsath: Little hero

Four and a half year old Bimsath Hekularu Kularatna is a child with very special talents. Starting from the age of three he has dubbing for the role of a little boy in two popular Indian television dramas being aired over Sirisa TV as well as acted in a few teledramas and has become a main actor in the ‘Sithara’ street drama troupe.

Bimsath has got much of his inspiration from his father Hepathi Kularatna who himself is an actor . ‘He took an interest in acting on his own and despite the fact he cannot read or write as yet, he can recite dialogues extremely well’ the proud father said. Bimsath has been getting a lot of encouragement from the Rupavahini Corporation and he has sung the theme song for the Goofy cartoon as well as the ‘Tikiri Katha’ programme on TV.

The street drama programme has taken Bimsath all over the country and one memorable meeting as the leader of the Veddas Wannie Atto who thoroughly enjoyed the drama. Bimsath who will be starting school next year has also been invited by the Rupavahini Corporation to the children's day programme scheduled for the 11th October at the Public Library.

Asked if he would like to continue acting after starting school, Bimsath says that he wants to grow up to be a good person and make his father Hepathia and mother Ratnakumari Sahabandu proud of him.
