Thurstan cruise by ten wickets

In spite of a fighting knock of 62 by Gimhan Dissanayake the Antonians succumbed to their first defeat of the season when Thurstan beat them ten wickets at their home grounds at Baudhaloka Mawatha yesterday.

In reply to the Antonian first innings total of 135 Thurstan were 192 for 3 overnight. Resuming this morning, they ran up to score 269 all with the aid of three knocks 61 each by Geth Kumara, Umesh Karunaratne and Charith Perera.

However the Antonians batting for the second time failed with the bat once again as medium pacer Bhuddika Samarawickrema with impressive figures of 4 for 10 limited them to a total of 141.

St.Anthony’s – 135 and 141 (G.M Dissanayke 62, K.Ekanayake 19, Buddika Samarawickrama 4 for 10, Ravindu Wijerathna 3 for 28, Ravindu Chamalka 2 for 28).

Thurstan College – 192 for 3 cont. 269 (Geeth Kumara 61, Umesh Karunarathna61, Charith Perera 61, K. Ekanayake 4 for 84) and 8 for no loss.
