For a worthy cause with Amcham

The American Chamber popularly known as AMCHAM concluded the 8th Annual Golf Tournament for Charity at the Royal Colombo Golf Club which was a rousing success ably put together by the Chief Executive of AMCHAM the irrepressible Gordon Glick. Those who participated claim that Cordon Glick was the absolute maestro.

AMCHAM helps charities regularly and their flagship fund raising event is the Annual Golf tournament through which so far they have collected over 3 million rupees. This year the main beneficiary is the School for the Deaf and Blind a tremendously worthy cause.

Over a century of golfers all eager to help charities participated in three divisions plus a special event for Ladies.

Pferoze Billimoria a former champion and now in stunning form cracked a super round nett 66 to not only win the “A” Classic but also take the much coveted Trophy as the overall winner. Billimoria flies to Singapore on a quick trip through the courtesy of Sri Lankan Airlines laced with a very special cellular from Jerry Huxtable the Chief Executive of SUNTEL and a Litre of the pride of Scotland Johnnie Walker Black Label from Careem Jewellers. Lanky David Evans came a cool 2nd with an exceptionally good round but just not enough to dislodge Billimoria.

Say Tien Fatt won the “B” Classic comfortably beating Jeong Goan U for a colourful Trophy

“C” Division
Jason Daniel came pretty good to take the “C” Division crown beating Kamlesh Johnpillai by a slender margin

The duchess
Yvonne “Duchess” Abhayaratne a classy golfer and former Champion of yesteryear moved into the AMCHAM scene with a superbly compiled victory score to win the Ladies event and lace herself with a Zam Zam Necklace and a Pearl Bracelet. She was over the moon beaming all night ready to give a shot by shot commentary of her performance to those agreeable to listen. Heike Weiss came behind the “Duchess” to pick a Handsome Trophy.

The Award Ceremony was slick, fun filled and studded with great music provided by Exotica a Jazz Band of repute. Gordon Glick and Jerry Huxtable excelled in speech craft in their addresses of welcome and thanks to those who lavishly sponsored the event. Suntel, Colombo Hilton and Watawala Plantations collecting special mention.

Amcham are a great organization superbly monitored and directed by Gordon Glick. They have a long history of going to the rescue of several worthy Institutions.
