Gold FM celebrates ninth anniversary

Popular radio Channel Gold FM celebrated its ninth year this September. When Gold FM launched way back in September, 1998, people were ecstatic to have a radio station, the good old favourites of yesteryear.

The station has, not surprisingly, grown more popular as the years went by and 9 years on, has become Sri Lanka's number one Retro Station. And as news is an important part of anyone's life these days, Gold FM's on the ball news team keeps the listener updated every hour with news highlights, coupled with four main news bulletines for the day which are Broadcast at 7.30 a.m., 2.30 p.m., 12.30 p.m., 6.30p.m. and 8.30 p.m.

Waking you up in no uncertain terms every weekday morning from 6 a.m.-10 a.m. is Nathan. A witty and heart warming radio personality with an unmatched sense of humor. With 8 years of Radio behind him, this talented RP dishes out a mix blend of the best music to get you pumped up for the day, coupled with both local and international newspaper headlines, history with a twist, quizzes, dedications and much more. He's also an authority on a number of sports and handles updates for Gold FM, when the need arises.

Next batsman is Tom Hart, the Programme Manager of the Station and truly the brave heart of Radio. With more than a decade of Radio experience behind him, he really mesmerizes listeners from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, weekdays, on the solid Gold request show. This highly talented bloke is also Gold FM'S music researcher and is responsible for many golden hits previously unheard on National Radio.

Patrice takes over on the late afternoon show from 2-5 p.m. This charming young lady, with a solid radio background is as pleasant to listen to as she is in person. The perfect show for a relaxing afternoon is definitely with Patrice.

Rick takes over on the famed 'Drive' from 5-8 p.m. on weekdays. Easily the most experienced RP from the entire lot, with 15 years of radio under his belt, this multi-talented RP will keep you entertained with humor, weird stories from around the world and the best oldies you've ever heard, as you drive home after a hard days work.

Finally, Jonathan takes over Monday through Thursday, from 8 p.m.-12 midnight on Gold FM'S theme nights. A guy with a very easy going personality, that makes him well suited to the role of late evening shows. From the September 21, Gold FM introduced 'Disco Friday' with the likes of Tom Hart, Suresh D and a heap of well known DJs to keep you dancing from 6.00 pm. till 2.00 a.m. the following morning.

The weekends are packed with nothing but the requests and dedications with the famed country countdown on Sundays from 6-8 p.m. providing the vast country loving fans of Gold FM the best Chart Toppers in the country music scene.
