“Boys are raring to go”: Manager Samararatne

By Marlon Fernandopulle

“The boys are fit and raring to go and so far we are not pegged with any injury problems,” said Sri Lanka team manager Sriyan Samararatne speaking to The Sunday Times just ahead of their practice match against hosts South Africa, in preparation for the Twenty-20 World tournament here , yesterday.

Speaking further the team manager said “We arrived in the country on Thursday and had a very light session at the Centurion Park on Friday”.

Commenting on the organization of the tournament Samararatne said that the hosts South Africa look to be very thorough with their logistics and so far none of the pieces in the puzzle are loose. However he added that still all the teams have not arrived in South Africa as England and India, were engaged in their final one-dayer in England yesterday.

Samararatne also added that there will be no formal opening ceremony of this tournament, but there will be a small show when South Africa take on the West Indies at the Wanderers Stadium on Tuesday.
