Kaushal and Shalika put SSC on top

The first day’s proceedings of the Under 23 cricket encounters in and around the Colombo suburbs came to an early halt due to bad weather. Most of the matches were called off a few overs after the tea break. The highlight of the encounter between SSC and Chilaw Marians at the SSC grounds saw an unbroken partnership of 111 between Kaushal Silva (who cracked an 85 with 12 boundaries) and Shalika Karunanayake (who made 55) and helped the home side to end the day on 237 for 5.
