Waiting for the right moment to strike

By Rypvanwinkle

"Hello, Hello, Satellite," said the Green Man as he visited the lady at her home "I was wondering when you would call..."
"You know me," Satellite said, "I'm always late..."
"I think we are all a little too late now..." the Green Man said.
"Why do you say that?" Satellite wanted to know.

"Why, Mahinda maama is making sure that he is in absolute control..." the Green Man said.
"He is turning out to be even more of a dictator than your uncle," Satellite suggested.
"And he has more family members by his side than your mother did..." the Green Man pointed out.
"And he wants to make sure that the Bees don't return to run the Blues..." Satellite observed.
"But," the Green Man said, "don't forget that Mallo is also still with him..."
"Ah," Satellite said, "don't worry about Mallo, he will do what I say at the correct time..."
"And what would be this correct time?" the Green Man wanted to know.

"We must ask Mangala that..." Satellite declared.
"But does he have the numbers that he says he has?" the Green Man inquired.
"Why, are you worried about that?" Satellite asked.
"Well, so far it is just Sripathi and him..." the Green Man pointed out.

"Don't worry about that," Satellite assured, "they will all desert Mahinda maama when the time comes..."
"How can you be so sure about that?" the Green Man demanded.
"Why, the moment they sensed that Mahinda maama was winning they all deserted me, even chaps I trusted like Maithree and Nimal and to be honest, even Mangala did so..." Satellite said.
"That is true," the Green Man conceded, "and even my chaps deserted me..."

"But," Satellite said, "that was a blessing in disguise..."
"That is also true," the Green Man agreed, "otherwise, they would have chased me out of the leadership by now..."
"Of course we could have brought Mahinda maama down by now if not for the reds..." Satellite observed.
"I too feel sorry for them..." the Green Man said.

"Why is that?" Satellite wanted to know.
"Why, first you took them for a ride saying you will abolish the presidency and they supported you," the Green Man said, "and then Mahinda maama took them for a ride saying he will cancel the ceasefire and kick the Norwegians out..."
"But now the reds know that if they force an election they too will lose half their seats in Parliament..." Satellite said.
"So we shall wait for the right moment and strike..." the Green Man suggested.
"Yes, we shall" Satellite agreed.

"But if you are to be successful, you must ensure that Mallo remains with Mahinda maama..." the Green Man proposed.
"I can do that," Satellite said, "if you can promise me something in return..."
"And what would that be?" the Green Man wanted to know.

"When you make your speeches, can you make sure that you talk more about the cost of living than about Buddhism..." Satellite suggested. The Green Man was not quite sure whether he could give Satellite that assurance. After all, he had so many interesting stories about stray dogs using Benz cars...
