Gampaha swimming on again

Regent International College as part of its social responsibilities is hosting the Annual Gampaha District Swimming Meet for the 4th consecutive year at the College Pool on 24th and 25th August 2007 commencing at 9.00 am on both days.

Many swimmers who have participated at this meet have clocked good timings. This meet will be conducted in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of SLASU and FINA and this meet is sanctioned and officiated by SLASU officials, therefore the records achieved at this meet are recognized.

The winners will be presented with the coveted “Regent International College Challenge Trophy” and runners-up trophy and overall winner and runner-up trophies. As usual the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively. Last year the overall championship was won by Kelani Swimming and Life Saving Association, overall schools boy’s championship was won by Regent International College Gampaha and overall schools girls’ championship was won by Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya Kiribathgoda.

The meet is financed mainly by Regent International College together with co-sponsors, Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, Elephant House, Metropolitan Agencies, Peoples Bank, Nations Trust Bank, Ranathunga Motors, and Makeen Books.

There will be participants from 20 schools and 12 clubs at this year’s meet.

Sri Lanka’s Swimming sensation Mayumi Raheem will be the Chief Guest at this prestigious event.
