Schools rugby masquerade

The state of schools rugby seems to be going from bad to worse – if that is possible. A meeting had been scheduled for last Monday to iron certain issues. Unfortunately nobody seems to know what transpired at the meeting or if it even took place.

The coach of an ‘A’ Division school who did not wish to be named said that he had met the Secretary of the Schools Rugby Association Rohitha Indunil on Friday but Indunil had made no reference to any meeting taking place.

Meanwhile sources told The Sunday Times that Hemantha Premathilleke had resigned from his post as President of the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Association. But verification of this was not possible as Premathilleke could not be contacted. As for the saga between Royal and Isipatana, Principal of Royal Upali Gunasekera said: “All I know is that the case will be heard on some day between the 20th and 30th of this month.” (HJ)
