Potter fever

By Isuri Kaviratne

Yeah…I'm sure most of you have finally got your hands on "the book!"

Most other fans were as eager as ever to get hold of the book as well. (You can hardly expect any less from a crowd that's willing to gather in front of bookshops early in the morning, right?)

So, this is about the fans who really made the effort to be among the first lot in the world to get their very own copy of The Deathly Hallows.

Don't worry. I'm not going to spoil the surprise if you are yet to read the book. Mainly because lots of fans were having the same doubts in their minds whether Snape was a good guy or bad guy.

For those of you who are going through the book for the second time, this is going to be fun; some thing even you too might have predicted about the book a couple of minutes before you owned it… Tanisha who studies in grade 8 at St Bridget's Convent had come to Vijitha Yapa bookshop around 4.30a.m. with her parents, 9 -year-old-little sister and her grandmother, to buy the book. "It's the last book and I really hope that it's as good as all the other books and even more," she said. "Oh, I don't like Snape. He is the bad guy, I think. He made promises with Drace's mum as well," she added.

"I don't think Snape is a bad guy. The conversation Hagrid heard Snape and Dumbledore having, proves that Snape refused to do something Dumbledore asked him to do.

“That may be Dumbledore's request to kill him," said Ruchira, of Ananda College. "When he said "Severus please…" at the top tower, I think what he really meant was "Severus please kill me!"

Excited Ruchira, standing second in the queue to get his pre-ordered copy, said that he has high expectations for this book too. About JK's hint about major characters dying in the book he said, "I think one is Hagrid and the other is Ron, Hermione or Neville."

10-year-old Ashmal, who is on vacation in Sri Lanka with his parents, told the Mirror Magazine that he planned to buy the book as soon as it was released, no matter where ever he is, in the world. "I think Dudley too is a wizard," he said adding, "And I hate Snape. Dumbledore trusted him. How could he kill Dumbledore…?"

Sankha, a medical student studying in Russia who has come home for vacation said that he loves the book as it's quite relaxing. "I first hated it. But since I read the third book, I loved it. I think Hagrid would die and if Potter doesn't die, one of the Weasley brothers would, except Ron," he said.

Natashiya (19) predicted that either Wormtail or Snape would die. "And I have a feeling that Harry too might die," she said. "I can hardly wait for this book. It's going to answer a lot of questions, in fact all the questions we had since we read the first book, like Snape's character. But I think he is a good guy," she said.

Hmmm…so what do you think? This is what some of you thought? Well, not that hard to say who the true Seers are right? But, of course, some can give a competition to Trelawney as well… (kidding… kidding…) So, people enjoy the book. It's as simple as that.
