New refurbished water supply scheme at Walasmulla Hospital

Minister of Irrigation and Water Management Chamal Rajapaksa participating as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the Refurbished Water Supply Scheme at the Walasmulla Hospital commended the efforts of the Chamber of Construction Industry Sri Lanka and Bioforce Development Institute of France for facilitating the completion of the project within a short span of four months.

Speaking on behalf of the people of Walasmulla and himself, Rajapaksa thanked the people of Grand Lyon of France for providing the necessary finances. He also appreciated the personal presence of Madam Claude Lardy, President and Benoit Silve, Director General of Bioforce Development Institute of France and Guy Peyretti, Deputy Director of Grand Lyon and thanked them for their participation at the inauguration ceremony. He said to upgrade the water supply scheme of the Walasmulla Hospital, on 48 occasions both local and foreign experts or representatives visited Walasmulla Hospital but very little progress was made. In that context he specially thanked Dakshitha Thalgodapitiya, CEO/Secretary general of the Chamber of Construction Industry for readily accepting the challenging role of the facilitator and for completion of the project in a very short period of time.

The Walasmulla Hospital is one of the oldest in the Southern Province and serves the needs of nearly 100,000 people.
