Earlred the evergreen Entertainer

Sri Lanka's one and only singer of Golden Oldies of Country and Western Songs of yesteryear Earlred Colombage may not be famous now with the Pop Singers of today.

But he has certainly carved a niche with the older generation for over 60 years in the field of Music. He is not only a singer but also a very rare guitarist who could play melodies in Sinhala, Hindi, Tamil, German, Spanish, Italian French etc., and had entertained foreign tourists and local guests in 5-Star hotels and in prestigious clubs as well as millions of music lovers who greatly appreciated his quality singing. The late Mr. Clarence Wjeyawardene, the pioneer in the Sinhala pop music had a high regard when he invited Earlred for a party at his house. There he presented him a 12 string Electric Guitar, and told him that he really loved to listen to the good old Country Songs that Earlred sings of Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Eddy Arnold, Hank Williams and Hank Snow to name a few, who illuminated country songs in America.

We wish Earlred God's blessings to continue his singing for many more years and Sri Lankans should be proud to have a singer of his calibre among us.
