Ceylinco Sussex College, Negombo

The day that the children of Ceylinco Sussex College, Negombo were dreaming of, dawned on January 22, 2007. It was the third anniversary of the school. On that day the school shifted to a new three storied building.

Mr. K. A. S. Jayatissa, the Deputy Chairman of Ceylinco Consolidated and Mr. S. Sirisena, the Director/Consultant (Education) were the Chief Guests. They were welcomed by the college band and the dancing troupe of the college.

Mr. J. A. Arangalla the Principal of the College welcomed the Chief Guests and the parents. In his speech he said that he would make the school the Ceylinco Sussex Sports School. In the future, a 400 metre track, a swimming pool, a basketball court and a hostel will be built in the school.

After the blessings by a Buddhist monk and a Catholic priest, all the classes were opened by the Guests of Honour. The Computer Lab has been improved and modernised and more than 35 computers have been installed. Separate rooms were given for Music and Dancing classes.

Every body was very happy. When the students were asked why they were so delighted, they said that now the school was spacious and they had enough room to play.

When the parents were asked about their views, most of them said that they were happy because all the children of the school, from playgroup to Grade 10 were now able to study under the same roof. Earlier the classes were held in different places.

After the refreshments, the opening ceremony ended in a happy mood. Everybody wished the School, Good Luck!
