Celebrating World Environment Day

Our environment is a gift of nature which makes it a beautiful place to live in. So we as young leaders have a responsibility in order to protect and save this environment.

June 5, was World Environment Day. The Girl Guides of the 14th Nugegoda Company, Lyceum International School, also engaged themselves in a cleaning project to mark the importance of this day, during their annual trip to Nuwara Eliya on June 29.

We were able to clean a place beside the Gregory Lake, which was dumped with plastics, polythene and glass bottles. We made sure to collect this garbage into a garbage bin. After cleaning the park, our hearts were filled with the pleasure of seeing the beauty of the area, which needs to be maintained by visiting crowds.

This project indeed taught us the importance of the environment and how much we can contribute to protect the environment.
