Derana re-launches prime time news bulletin

Derana said this week it is re-launching its prime time news bulletin at 8 pm and late night at 10 pm with a fresh new look and style, in keeping with international standards of news reporting.

“Offering unbiased, well researched and professionally compiled news presented from a reasonable man’s point of view, Derana aims to give the discerning viewer an understanding of both sides of the story. Based on the platform of “Truth First”, Derana News is committed to report facts as they are rather than sensationalizing them for viewer popularity. Fiercely independent, the channel aspires to be the voice of all rather than the powerful few,” the TV channel said.

Introducing novelty to news programming in Sri Lanka, “Ada Derana” was the first to introduce the concept “Anyone can report”, where viewers are invited to capture a newsworthy incident if they happen to be present at the situation while the incident is taking place and the footage can be sent to the channel or uploaded on Derana website. The viewer interest and participation in this initiative has been tremendous, the station said.
