The curse of ‘Ran Depaya’

Shazlene Nawaz of Matale writes.....

I am a teacher from a leading International School in Matale. I plead with the authorities of Sirasa TV to stop this Indian dramas being shown at night from 8.00pm. I am a Grade V teacher and when I come to class, I find that my students are discussing about Praveena and her life style of the movie.

This is a menace and everybody keeps complaining about this. I have found out after I called for a parent-teachers meeting, parents are unable to stop their children from watching this. Parents say that their children tend to even watch on a sly. What is going to happen to our young ones. The parents are to be blame for this as they are the first to run for this menace.

Please Sirasa, we beg of you on behalf of our young generation to stop showing this ‘Ran Depaya’ dramas at nights. This is a housewives programe. Why not telecast this two hour programe in the mornings or in the afternoons hours, while children are at school.

I know there will be so many housewives, who will get angry with me for this. But for the sake of our children’s future please stop this. Also I know of some people, who have problems with their husbands due to them being engrossed to the TV when their husbands are back home.

I hope that Sirasa TV will take some kind of interest in our young generation and give us a very favourable action.
