Who says money alone can't buy 'glitz and glamour?’ Not just be purchased, it can literally be bought over the counter. Wondering what on earth I'm going on about? Well, the latest ladies accessory store, 'Lakrich' is now here to put all your queries on available accessories, to rest.

A branch of the popular accessory shop 'Samrich' in Kurunegala, run by her mother, Darnila Perera, the chairperson of the newly opened 'Lakrich' reveals the many splendours of her store, simply awaiting discovery! Sparkling necklace sets, dazzling bracelets, intricately worked hair ornaments, glittering saree tassels/tags, multi-coloured bangles, bindhi/pottu, handbags, rings, toe rings, wigs, slides, bands, ear rings…the list is endless.

"I used to select accessories for my mother when I travelled abroad and we would have stalls at Access Towers and at the Lady Hilton tea and fashion shows. Everyone liked my selections and many people asked me to open up a shop in Colombo as well," said Darnila. So far, her shop has attracted the likes of popular Sri Lankan movie actress Sangeetha Weeraratne who purchased a necklace set which she wore to the Timothy Terry Awards recently.

"As one person's formal wear can be another's casual, emphasising how subjective one's taste in accessories can be, 'Lakrich' caters to a diverse market of varied likes and dislikes," says Darnila with a smile. Soon she hopes to expand her range of products to include shawls, cosmetics, body lotions and sprays too, adds the enthusiastic entrepreneur. These man-made wonders come in all the different shades of the rainbow, sizes, shapes and textures. Be it bead bracelets, glass rings, wooden chains, stone necklaces or plastic pendants, it can all be found here under one roof! A bride in search of her trousseau (both wedding and going-away), a wedding guest in frantic pursuit of accessories to match the exact shade of her saree, someone in search of a funky piece of chunky jewellery to wear with jeans and a top, a dainty little necklace set to wear for a romantic night out with that special someone, whatever the occasion, 'Lakrich' has something for anyone on the look out for just the right touch of taste and class.
