CIMA opens new office in Kandy

In response to increasing demand from both students and employers in the region, CIMA has opened a new office in Kandy. The office located at 254, Peradeniya Road, was officially opened by the Governor of Central Province, Tikiri Kobbakaduwa. The Mayor of Kandy, L B Aluwihare also attended the opening ceremony, accompanied by Shanthikumar Sadanandan, President, CIMA Sri Lanka Division and Kathy Grimshaw, CIMA’s Director of International Development, CIMA said in a press release.

The new office will provide support services for students in the region as well as advice and counselling on the CIMA qualification for prospective students. In line with CIMA’s purpose of the ever greater employability of its members, the office will also provide a hub for services for members to help them to develop their careers. CIMA provides a high quality range of tools, planners and extensive learning resources to assist members’ professional development as well as benefits designed to support members in their careers and general working lives.

Speaking at the opening, Shanthikumar Sadanandan, President of CIMA Sri Lanka Division, said: “CIMA has been active in Sri Lanka for more than 40 years and this is yet another landmark in CIMA’s history here. The new office will help us to better service our members, students and employers in the region as well as enable us to better respond to the increasing demand for our qualification here.’

Governor of Central Province, Tikiri Kobbakaduwa, said: "My early experiences in the private sector have given me insight into how management accounting techniques can aid decision making and the value creation process and I am convinced that there is immense scope to use these principles and concepts to drive the effectiveness and efficiency of both the public and private sectors. The Central Province is a key contributor to the national economy in terms of generation of power, agriculture and the plantations industry and the region can only thrive if we ensure that we operate as effectively and efficiently as possible.”
