Revel in a repeat

Audiences eager to revel in the wonderful sounds of probably the best all-male ensemble in the country made sure they were present when these gifted individuals took the stage last month. Singing to an absolutely "packed" house, they entertained to the maximum, capturing the hearts of fans with their powerful and tuneful voices. And for all those of you who missed out on your chance of watching these maestros in action, you're in luck, with a repeat performance just around the corner!

"Revelations in Concert" is presented by the special events team of S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia and will be an ideal chance of catching these talented guys in action. Scheduled for July 1, the show will be held at the Lionel Wendt from 7pm onwards.

The show will be a repeat of "Good Vibrations" held on May 4 and 5, which going by crowd response was seemingly a great show. "Last time's show was a total success and ran to packed houses, and we even had quite a few people who had purchased tickets, standing and watching the show! So we thought that having a repeat would be a good idea," said Ishan de Lanerolle of Revelations.

"And luckily for us, there was a cause that needed support as well, so it all turned out for the best," he said, adding that the College Chapel needs refurbishing, and so the proceeds of this evening of a cappella music will be channelled to the STC Chapel renovation fund.

Revelations, has over the years turned even more versatile, with the present chorale group consisting of its senior and long standing members, as well as fresh, new additions. The programme for the evening will include quite a few lighter numbers, this being something different to the normal genre they perform.

Hits from the Beatles, Eagles, Beach Boys, Paul Simon and the Platters is on the schedule. A number of popular classics from musicals such as Phantom of the Opera, Westside Story, Lion King and Les Miserable too will be performed. In addition to these, a few gospel numbers and some semi jazz is to be expected as well.

The box plan and tickets are available at the Wendt, College office, JWT 26B Alwis Place, Kollupitiya and Janashakthi Full Option, Staple Street. – VS
