The wisdom of the blind

The Department of Health in its infinite wisdom has decided to deal a body blow to the expansion of ophthalmic services in Sri Lanka. One would note that in 2007, 22 out of a total 38 surgeons have been placed in the Western Province.

This insane move on the part of the Department of Health has forcibly closed down four very important Units in the North (Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee and Vavuniya) and one in the South (Hambantota). (Please see table below)

How does the department hope to open the stations and when? Does the Western Province need 60% of our Eye Surgeons?
My earnest prayer is "Dear God give sight to the blind Ministry officials".
