‘Kiripabalu Wila’ warns of the danger of suspicion

Director Chandraratne Mapitigama's latest miniplay for ITN channel unfolds a tale that warns of the dangerous repercussions that could be created due to suspicion among spouses.

Starring Palitha Silva, Semini Iddamalgoda, Susan Fernando, Damitha Abeyratne, Gihan Fernando, Gihani Amerasena, Melani Ashoja, Ravindra Mapitigama, Ruwanthi Mangala, Nirda Uyanhewa, Saman Almeda, Anusha Rajapakse, Suneetha Wimalaweera, Anura Srinath and Palitha Nanayakkara in the lead with child actors Dasun Madusanka, Kevin and Chamika the drama is telecast every Thursday at 8 pm on ITN channel.

Young surveyor Janaka Ranatunga who is married to Theja, a graduate serves in a rural part in Ratnapura. To give birth to their first child Theja is admitted to a hospital there. Just after she gives birth to her child the hospital gets flooded and Theja manages to save herself with the new born child. Yet after two years Janaka who realises that the child is different from both the parents suspect Theja. He insists on having a DNA test which proves that the child does not belong to them. Disturbed by the finding Janaka gives up Theja and the child and leaves the country. Being unable to prove her innocence Theja becomes helpless and during this period she meets Devendra a businessman. Believing that the child was missed in the hospital she seeks his assistance to find her real child.

Meanwhile Janaka returns to Sri Lanka to get remarried and Theja who meets him once more asks his help to find their real child. But Janaka refuses to trust her.

Joining with Narmada a friend she decides to find the child for herself. For this she finds a police officer who is willing to help her.
Digging into the incident of the flood she comes to know two children who were rescued from the hospital. They gather vital information from a female attendant who had served in the hospital on that fatal day. Following her clues they meet Ravindu whom Theja thinks is her child. But the DNA test once again proves negative. And what would be Theja's next turn? Will she succeed in her search for her own child? Was Theja really wronged? Would Janaka change his attitude? Where could be the real child? Kiripabaluwila with its suspenseful end would provide all the answers.

In the technical crew K. B. Herath penned the screenplay while Nilantha Subasinghe handles the camera and Anura Mapitigama is the art director. Dinesh Subasinghe made the musical score while Narada Ratnayake assisted the direction which was produced by Susan Fernando to the assistance of Narada Ratnayake the assistance director.
