SLT, SIA in joint pact to promote tourism

Singapore International Airlines (SIA), responding to a request from Sri Lanka Tourism (SLT), has agreed to air several 30 second clips of Sri Lanka onboard all movie channels, on all SIA flights flying out of Singapore. The airline flies to more than 64 cities in 35 countries around the world. All flights flying into Colombo will also air a destination arrival video, according to an SLT press release.

As part of the partnership, SIA will help to promote Sri Lanka by organizing familiarization tours of writers from top magazines in Indonesia, China, Korea Australia and South Africa. These visits are organized through the SIA international offices and are facilitated by the SLT and the local tourism industry. The first team of SIA sponsored journalists arrived on the island in mid March from Indonesia.
The team consisted of four editors from top lifestyle magazines; The Indonesian Tatler, Itnasiri, Kartini and Ayahbunda. The journalists spent four days exploring the Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage, amazing wild life and soothing Ayurveda and spa treatments.

The host hotels included ‘Ayurvedha Pavilion’, ‘The Blue Oceanic Hotel’, ‘Mahaveli Reach Hotel’ and the ‘Deer Park Hotel’ (Angsana Spa). The second team of journalists from Korea is expected to arrive in mid April, followed by journalists from China, South Africa and Australia.
