Environmentally-friendly shopping bag from Keells Super

Keells Super recently launched an attractive reusable, environmentally-friendly ‘Red Bag’. Made out of non-woven material, the Red Bag is branded with the Keells Super logo and their new Mr. Tree logo which depicts the Keells Super CSR commitment, the company said in a statement. “The launch of this reusable bag further enhances Keells Super’s commitment to be an environmentally friendly organization. Keells Super has always been mindful of the growing threat of plastics and polythene to the environment and this is another one of their socially responsible commitments towards cleaner and safer surroundings,” it said.

A special guest at the launch was BBC World Challenge winner Thusitha Ranasinghe who is an ardent advocate of environmental protection. He stressed the need for more stringent pollution control and endorsed the stance taken by Keells Super as a valuable example to other service organizations. Ranasinghe won the 2006 BBC World Challenge award for his ingenuity in reusing elephant dung for various paper products.

The attractive Red Bag is available at all Keells Supermarkets and can hold up to 10 kgs in weight and is waterproof, eliminating any water seepage and meat products can be easily stored.
