Of teledramas and violence

Mrs. Nalini de Livera of negombo writes....

I just thought of penning a few words regarding the teledramas telecasting these days. As a matter of fact, some are excellent and on par with international standard, but some are not. I often make it a point to watch most of the teledramas.

The mega teledrama series 'Jeevithaya Lassani' is a popular programme among young and the old. The characters are very real to day to day life and always and give a message across. The credit goes to Hema Nalin Karunaratne for his achievement.

The tele series 'Nilangana' and 'Gauthami' are too boring to watch. Mainly 'Gauthami' just dragging showing violence, kidnappings, vice only.

As a woman I have to raise my disappointment on these utter useless series. Some characters of this drama are dead or in prison. This seems to be never ending agony, as we hear a lot of brutal killings, murder, kidnappings and rape.

I hope this catches the attention of the higher up of the Swarnavahini and put an end to it urgently. This is a request and I trust all the TV viewers accept this view. We have experienced and experiencing so much due to bad television programmes . We must relax and console our minds at least, when viewing a drama or a film.

I write this in good spirit and hope the authorities will take it as a constructive criticism.
