Does the aerial bombing of the north and east not count?

I always admire the publications of Wijeya Newspapers, particularly The Sunday Times and the Daily Mirror for their quality and balanced reporting.

However, I was shocked and saddened to read last Sunday's editorial titled, 'Air terror and comedy of errors'. Although it was well-written, I regret I cannot agree with the comment "not since that fateful Easter Sunday in World War II - April 5, 1942 has Sri Lanka been bombed by air as happened last Sunday night".

I regret, repeat regret, that you seem to be deaf and blind to the happenings in the north and the east where the aerial bombardment by this government has become a way of life. Or do you feel that the north and the east are not part of Sri Lanka?
Violence in any form by anyone should not be condoned. To quote Mahatma Gandhi, "An eye for an eye approach will not bring in any results and will only aggravate the conflict”.
