Nimalsiri to take up new post

H. M. C. Nimalsiri, Director General, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) will resign on April 16 to take up a new position at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as a Regional Project Coordinator, while still awaiting no pay leave from the government.

This follows widespread speculation of a dispute between Mr. Nimalsiri and Mihin Air officials.

“I will be resigning on April 16 ,” he told The Sunday Times adding that he was expecting the government to grant him no pay leave before the Sinhala, Tamil New Year.

Last month the aviation industry was abuzz with an incident reportedly involving Mr. Nimalsiri and Mihin Air CEO and presidential coordinating secretary Sajin Gunawardena. Mr. Gunawardena is reported to have accused him of harassing Mihin Air officials.
