Law and Society Trust celebrates 25 years

Today, the Law & Society Trust (LST) marks 25 years of its existence at its Kynsey Terrace premises.The Colombo based legal research and advocacy institution utilizes law as a resource in the battle against underdevelopment and poverty. A festival, titled 'Voices: A Cultural Festival,' has been organized to bring together people from all walks of life in a celebration that promises to be as informative as it is inspiring.

Art exhibits, law and theatre workshops, film screenings, canvas painting sessions and stalls selling everything from handicrafts to books will be open throughout today. "We hope to assert the fact that in spite of troubles and insecurity life goes on with all its struggles and its pleasures," said a spokesperson for LST, adding that the festival was an attempt to "display the diverse forms of expression of life in contemporary Sri Lanka as well as on the broader issues of conflict, human rights, and peace the world over."
