Health education for Galle

The campaign to restore a health service where the well being of the patients is given top priority will be taken to Galle today by the People’s Movement For the Rights of Patients (PMRP).

A health education and empowerment programme for hundreds of social workers in the Southern capital will be conducted by the PMRP at the Vijaya Nanda Maha Vihara Pirivena, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Eminent medical personality Prof. Carlo Fonseka will speak on patients’ rights and responsibilities and the need for a national medicinal drugs policy whereby quality drugs could be made available to all the people at affordable prices.

Gynaecologist Dr. L. A. W. Sirisena will speak on social healing and how the people could cooperate in improving facilities in the public hospital of their area. After the talks there will be a dialogue for follow up action.
