ACCA Sustainability Reporting Awards on March 22

The third Sustainability Reporting Awards under the aegis of ACCA Sri Lanka will be held on March 22. With judging already complete, President of ACCA Sri Lanka Dilshan Rodrigo said the submission of entries for the awards each year has increased.

“This is not an easy award to win as judging criteria is based on global benchmarks and worked on the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) guidelines. So while companies in Sri Lanka must strive to attain those global benchmarks, for those who win this award, in essence it is a global award because their submissions match or exceed the globally requested criteria and hence, it is certainly an honour,” he said in a statement issued by ACCA.

The entries this year spanned submissions from a number of industry and service genres and included banks and financial services, plantations, manufacturing industries, insurance, leasing, hotel and other service industries. ACCA pioneered the annual Sustainability Awards globally as a part of its centenary celebrations in 2004 and Sri Lanka was one of the countries included in its initial calendar in introducing the awards to a number of countries.

The three member panel of judges focused on the three areas of completeness, credibility and communication of each report before arriving at their conclusions, which will be revealed at the awards ceremony on March 22.
