Kandy to reverse to old traffic system

The recently introduced uniflow traffic system in Kandy has hit a road block with the Kandy Municipal Council deciding to go back to the old system.

A council official said at a meeting on Friday, presided over by the mayor L.B. Aluvihare a decision had been taken to revert to the old system due to protests from motorists, schoolchildren and businessmen over inconveniences arising from the newly introduced traffic arrangement.

He said they hadn’t decided when the switch would take place but the police would be informed of the decision.
