Dogs take the ramp

It was an event not to be missed by all dog lovers and dog owners as the Ceylon Kennel Club conducted its 100th Championship Show on January 27th and 28th at the BMICH grounds. While a keen audience enjoyed seeing the doggies on display from majestic German Shepherds to dainty Daschhunds and lovable Labradors as well as Beagles, Boxers, Spaniels, Alaskan Malamutes and Great Danes to mention a few of the many breeds present, the events were worked off with All Breeds judges Joan and Melvin Beech officiating.

Bagatelle Master Rudolf, a miniature smooth haired Daschhund owned by Lucille and Ranjit Dahanayake won the 1st place for the Best Exhibit Dog in Show. He also won the 'Best of Breed' and the "Best Imported Exhibit'.

Rehani Fernando: Best Junior Handler

The Second Best Exhibit in Show award went to Rashi of Kotugoda owned by Sunil Perera and Golden Storm Kween Kenzo owned by Ms. Sanja Ostergaart won the Third Best Exhibit in Show. Bhogadi's Xill of the Police Kennels, Kandy was Reserve Best Exhibit in Show.

Miss. Rehani Fernando from Kandy won the prize for the Best Junior Handler for handling Alexandra of Windsor Kennels and Kiara of Windsor Kennels owned by R. Mahesh and T. Fernando won the award for the Best Country Bred Labrador in Show.
