We possess centuries of history on record filled with agitation and riots, lost and won contributing to our independence and known as the first fight for freedom. The ancient Ceylonese were known to be 'Yakkas' as there lived a group of people with no discipline or ethics whatsoever.

Historic venue that shares the pride of freedom
As the Lion flag flies high in every home with great pride on its 59th year of Independence the Independent Commemorative Hall celebrates 50 years of existence.

That symbolic mango tree
It is 58 years since gaining independence that we are celebrating the 59th year of a symbolic day in the history of Sri Lanka.
