From classical to light favourites, a musical treat from the Joes

The Joes take the stage at the Lionel Wendt on February 7 and 8 with their ‘Rhapsody in Blue’, at 7 p.m. each day. ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ is presented in five segments. The first is the classical segment, with ‘Worthy is the Lamb’, ‘Hallelujah Chorus’, ‘Unto us a child is born’ and ‘Coronation Anthem’ from Handel.

Then comes a ‘Mixed segment,’ which includes a Sinhala song, a Tamil composition and an Italian chorus - La Virgine. The third segment is a ‘Lion King’ special. Feel the love as you enjoy ‘Can you feel the love tonight?’ and a medley of other favourites from the ever-popular kids’ favourite ‘The Lion King.’

The next segment is a guest appearance by the Old Joes Choir with three songs; and the ‘Rhapsody’ comes to an end with the final ‘Rock/Pop segment’ which includes ‘Somebody to love,’ ‘We are the champions’ and ‘World in Union.’

The proceeds of this concert will go towards developing a nursery school in Mannar, the ‘Brother Hilary Nursery School’ (a part of St. Xavier’s College) run by the De La Salle Brothers.

Tickets priced at Rs. 500, Rs. 350 & Rs. 200 will be available from February 1 at the Lionel Wendt and The St. Joseph’s College Office.

Special parking arrangements will be made and these will be notified on the ticket.
