Under-19 Hockey back on the road

Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association has decided to revive the All Island Schools Under-19 boys and girls hockey tournament after a lapse of over two decades. The Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association which in the past years organized the All Island Schools Under-13, Under-15 and under-17 tournaments successfully, will embark on this new addition from this year onwards.
Conducting of this major tournament is made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship package granted by “Sisil” whom from this year onwards will assist the Sri Lanka Schools and the other district schools hockey committees to conduct tournaments and help to develop the game at school level which in turn will pave the way for the upliftment of the game at national and international levels.

All arrangements have been made to work out this tournament on the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st January 2007 at the Nandimitra Ekanayake artificial turf and Bernard Aluvihare stadium, Matale.

40 teams from all parts of the island have qualified to play in this tournament which will be played on a league basis in preliminary round where teams would be drawn into four groups. Thereafter it will be played on a knock out basis.
