In a press release, the board said the aim of this DVD is to help promote tourism in the country in a more liquid form. “One of the main problems in promoting tourism is to get out the information on what exactly Sri Lanka has to offer its tourists. Although our beautiful island is known for beautiful blue seas and miles and pristine, this presentation will help to promote the other features of the country which are as attractive but perhaps do not get as much exposure,” it said.

The clips show the hill country, cultural triangle, wild life safaris, water sports and ayurveda. Focus is also given to the cultural heritage of the country and our cottage industry, including the Perahara, Kandyan dancers, fire dancers, drummers, fishing, carvery and the handloom industry.

The DVD consists of two, five minute clips - “Sights and Sounds”, “Nature, Culture and Adventure,” three TV Commercials – fire dancers, the deep blue sea, Sri Lankan cuisine, temples, culture and wildlife; an eight minute clip on “Ayurveda – The science of life” and a five minute documentary on Sri Lanka in English, French, German and Italian.
