Swadeshi illuminates Kelani Raja Maha Viharaya for 8th year

The Swadeshi Industrial works Ltd., was the sponsor of the Aloka Poojawa of the historic Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya for the 8th successive year. The event coincides with the annual Duruthu Perahera, the company said.

The illumination of this sacred site took place from the December 31, 2006 to January 3, 2007 under the patronage of the Chairperson of the company, A. M. Wijewardena. "Swadeshi is a 100 percent local company that safeguards and values Sri Lankan culture. Illuminating this historic site on new year's eve, is a great honour for us as well as our loyal consumers as we believe this site holds immense significance for many worshippers who travel great distances to pay homage at this sacred site," she said. The Swadeshi Industrial Works Ltd., is the pioneer of herbal beauty care products in Sri Lanka and is one of the most active sponsors of religious and cultural activities in places of worship.
