Vittachi scores in courtroom victory over Harry J

VP Vittachi has scored a victory in round three of the ongoing battle with business tycoon and partner Harry Jayawardene by securing an enjoining order from the courts permitting him to resume his duties as Chairman of Stassen Exports Ltd this past week.

Cargills Quality Dairies (Pvt) Ltd (CQDL), is looking beyond the vistas of ice cream to expand into a fully fledged dairy facility in a bid to kick start Sri Lanka’s own ‘Milk Revolution”.

 
DCSL-Customs: Have investigations been halted?
The Customs Department, it is reliably learnt, has halted investigations into the under-invoicing scandal of alcohol by Periceyl (Pvt) Ltd, a jointly controlled entity of Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka (DCSL), with the Director-General being accused of ‘being the culprit.’
 
Hilton eyeing southern resort
The Hilton chain managing the Colombo 5-star property owned by the Hotel Developers (Lanka) Ltd (HDL) wants to build a new 340-room southern resort while agreeing to ‘substantially’ reduce its management fee under a new agreement being negotiated for the Colombo Hilton.
 
Hameedia seeks public listing

Hameedia, the premier Sri Lankan men’s wear retailers, plans a public listing next year after expansion to Bangladesh, Nepal and Kuwait.
“We are planning to open stores in these countries by next year and then explore the possibilities of an initial public offering (IPO),” Fouzul Hameed, Managing Director of the company, told The Sunday Times FT.
