A night to remember

A different setting, different attires and a very different play. Pyramus and Thisby by CentreStage Productions performed last week, in all its theatrical splendour, made a lasting impression on Sri Lankan theatre. The atmosphere collaborated with the play, especially since the plot too was placed out doors.

The vibrant colours of the costumes were some what diluted due to a certain lighting arrangement, but the overall visual effects of the performance was outstanding. The limited viewing facilities at the St. Joseph's College Quadrangle – the venue for the performance – helped the audience to have a more intimate bonding with the cast, while there was continuous interaction between the cast and the audience. The interesting blend of music and choreography complemented the rest of the play, making it a theatrical success.
