Celebration 35, a musical journey to celebrate three and a half decades of singing career of Lankika Perera of Golden Chimes, will be held at the Methodist College Auditorium at 7.00 pm. on September 9.

Lankika will sing her special song with her band Golden Chimes on that day.

Annesley Malawana, Indrani Perera, Anil Bhareti, Mariazelle Gunatilleke, Christine Gunawardene, Keerthi Pasquel, Rajiv Sebastian, Sureshni Wanigasuriya, and Rukshan Perera are the special guest stars, who will be featured at the ‘Celebration 35’ Concert

Lanki, as her friends call her, joined Golden Chimes in 1971 on a request made by late Clarence Wijewardene. She is the only Sri Lankan female vocalist, who has been singing for 35 years with one band.

She has many hits to her credit, penned by Clarence. ‘Kimada Nave’, ‘Molaketi Puthuni’, ‘Malai Welai’, ‘Sandai Tharui’, ‘Bethlehem Pure’, Puthu Nidiyai’, ‘Sihina Sagare’, ‘Hiru Negila’ are some of the popular songs sung by Lankika. Also Lanki has sung more than 20 duets with Late Clarence Wijewardene, Anil Bhareti, Chanaka Perera, Lucky Deva, Rukshan Perera, Rajiv Sebastian, and Thilak Perera.

Her intention to celebrate and commemorate this land mark of her musical career in a meaningful manner with musical backing by her husband Chanaka and the Golden Chimes.

Golden Chimes comprises-Chanaka Perera (Leader/Manager), Lankika Perera (female vocalist), Suranga Perera (guitar), Lalaka Peiris (keyboards), Krishan Peiris (bass) Kamal Gallage (Drums) and Eranga Fernando (Percussion).

She has been singing in more tha n25 tourist hotels in southern coastal belt during her career of thirty five years and has toured many countries around the world. Bevil Palihawadana will compere the show while Solar Heat led by Sanker will provide dancing sequences. Show is presented by the Rawatawatte Methodist Wesley Guild.

All proceeds will be donated to Rawatawatte Methodist Church Reconstruction Fund.
