No exceptions to the rule, everybody plays the fool

Returning after meeting Mahinda maama, the Green Man was very annoyed and had turned red in anger. His able deputy Karu asked him what was bothering him…

"He tricked me again…" the Green Man said.

"I thought you just went to meet him…" Karu was puzzled.

"Yes, and I had this very cordial discussion with him about how we could help the country together…"

"So, what's wrong then?" Karu wanted to know.

"But he didn't tell me half the story…" the Green Man complained.

"Why, what has he not told you?" Karu inquired.

"I just heard that the Nilame has crossed over…" the Green Man explained.

"Ah, but you can't blame Mahinda for that…" Karu observed.

"But the Nilame has been appointed a deputy minister…" the Green Man protested.

"You can't blame Mahinda for that either…" Karu said.

"But he had been sworn in half an hour before I met Mahinda and I was not told a word about it…" the Green Man said.

"Now, that is odd…" Karu conceded.

"And to think that I was talking to him all this while trying to figure out ways to help him out for the sake of the country while he was stealing my men…" the Green Man lamented.

"Well," Karu said, "this is not the first time you have been tricked…"

"Why do you say that?" the Green Man wanted to know.

"Why, remember, Satellite tricked you too…" Karu recalled.

"She tricked everybody", the Green Man said, "until Mahinda tricked her…"

"But she also tricked you when she assured you Parliament will not be dissolved…"

"Yes," the Green Man agreed, "and the very next day she dissolved Parliament…"

"But we must look at the bright side of this latest trick…" Karu suggested.

"Why do you say that?" the Green Man asked.

"Nilame leaving us could be a blessing in disguise…" Karu said.

"How can that be?" the Green Man argued, "we are fast losing our numbers…"

"We must look at it from a different point of view…" Karu proposed.

"And what exactly is that?" the Green Man asked.

"When they accuse us of 'bheeshanaya' we can now say that those accused of 'bheeshanaya' are now ministers in their government…" Karu said.

"And maybe we should ask Wimal and his party what their views are on our latest deputy minister…" the Green Man said.

"Yes," Karu said, "after all, it was they who accused Nilame of hurting their supporters…"

"And we should also ask other Blues like Anura what they think about Nilame joining them…" the Green Man declared.

"And we should not be surprised if a few more deputy ministers take oaths in the next few days…" Karu cautioned.

"I suppose we could call it good riddance to bad rubbish…" the Green Man said.
"We could really call it that, if we can get Mahinda to accept one other chap…" Karu said.

"And who would that be?" the Green Man wanted to know.

"If we can trick Mahinda into accepting Milinda, I think we would be up on the deal…" Karu said.

"Don't even think about it…" the Green Man said but he felt himself turning an even darker shade of red.
