Training on lightning protection for science and technology officers

A training programme on lightning protection will be conducted by Dr. Chandana Jayaratne at the Arthur.C.Clarke Institute for Modern Technology on July 3.

“The programme is mainly for science and technology officers attached to the Vidatha centres of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The general public are also welcome to visit any of the centres to obtain information regarding lightning protection,” a press release issued, by the Arthur C.Clarke Institute for Modern Technology said.

More than 50 people are killed annually and infrastructure worth billions off rupees are damaged due to lightning

“A follow up training programme will be conducted for the Vidatha Science and Technology officers depending on the public’s response,” the release said.
