Lux shares secrets with Silver Screen
Lux, a popular beauty soap of Unilever Sri Lanka announced the celebration of its 75th year in the country. Launched in 1931, Lux is the number one beauty soap in the country, with more than 85% of households purchasing it.
Lux has planned a series of activities this year to involve the consumer in its Diamond year celebrations.

The Diamond year celebrations were kicked off in style at a glamorous celebration held at Water's Edge, last week. Movie stars Sangeetha Weeraratne, Yashoda Wimaladharma and Kanchana Mendis, faces which represented Lux throughout the years, were amongst the personalities at the event, with new upcoming stars Anarkali Akarsha, Chathurika Pieris and Manjula Perera also attending.

As a first of its celebratory activities, two exotic variants of soaps were launched as limited edition variants. Rich with cocoa cream and strawberry vitamins, Lux ‘Chocolate Seduction’ has been designed to nourish skin and leave it looking 'deliciously' gorgeous. Receiving its name from its cocoa cream ingredient, chocolate colour and fragrance, Lux ‘Chocolate Seduction’ is designed to entice the consumer unlike ever before.

This is the first time a chocolate soap has appeared in Sri Lanka and it is a first among branded soaps across the world. The second variant, Lux ‘Aromatic Glow’, entrenches a delicate mix of lotus extract and aromatic oils that has been crafted to offer an exotic, lingering fragrance and glowing skin.
Speaking at the event, Sangeetha said, ‘As much as its loyal consumers pledge their endorsement to Lux by continually being with the brand, the endorsement that Lux will receive from silver screen stars will only strengthen with time. I have been extremely proud of my association with Lux and it is something that I will forever treasure’.

Lux has enjoyed a vibrant history in Sri Lanka in the past 75 years. In 2005, it redefined the paradigm of sensorial experience with the lunch of a new range, which included Lux Almond Delight, Lux Orchid Touch, Lux Golden Glow and Lux Nature Pure. This range, which embeds visible ingredient cues, incorporated a technology that was a first in Sri Lanka and received the unstinted endorsement from its loyal consumers. Lux also offers a range of shower creams for superior bathing benefits, keeping in step with the changing needs of the consumer.

‘As the market leader in beauty soaps, the brand has to continually do new things to address the aspirations of consumers and be a trend setter’ said Surith Perera, Marketing Manager for Lux, Unilever Sri Lanka. "With the soap market full of me-too brands with similar propositions, Lux will continuously keep differentiating itself, exploring new expressions of beauty."
