Bribery Com. probes CMC racket
The Commission to Investigate Bribery and Corruption has launched investigations into the unauthorised buildings in the Colombo city.

Investigations were started following allegations that some councillors were involved in the construction of unauthorised buildings in the city.
A director of the Commission told The Sunday Times that statements from top CMC officials, including Municipal Commissioner Jayantha Liyanage, had been recorded.

Dr. Liyanage is reported to have told the commission that it was not possible to keep track of the unauthorised constructions and it would take at least two years to carry out a full study on these constructions.
The Bribery Commission was probing whether CMC members had carried out illegal constructions and got subsequent approval for the constructions.
