battle of the princes of the south
1. Prince Dappula organized his army and got ready for the battle.
He came as far as an area called Sangama and camped there. Commander
Mahinda, who got this news, got ready, collected the royal army
and marched to the battle-field.
- First
Dalada Perahera after takeover by British
April 24, 1815 marks the day when the first Sri Dalada Perahera
was held in Kandy after the British took over the Kandyan kingdom.
- Alut
Avurudda is round the corner
It's just a few days more for the Alut Avurudda meaning the Sinhalese
and Hindu new year. The auspicious times have been announced to
start the new year on Friday, April 14.

Times Fun Fest in Kandy
It was an exciting event held in Kandy last year on October 29
and 30, for the Funday Times young readers in Kandy. I had the
opportunity of participating in this great event as one of the
contestants.
