Iraj goes international
Iraj Weeraratne is Sri Lanka's maestro of hip-hop and probably the island's biggest star will launch his latest video clip of the song ‘Mata Aloke Genadevi’ in India next month.

Going where no local star has gone before, Iraj has amazed Sri Lanka's music moguls through his unprecedented climb to the helm of the island's entertainment industry. His amazing track record of No.1 singles, a consecutive series of top 10 hits, and last year's No.1 self-titled debut album (Iraj) has made him go beyond a local household name, into an internationally recognized and celebrated icon.

His debut album managed to break the island's record for the 'All time fastest-selling' and 'Fastest - selling Debut' after it surpassed the all important 100,000 mark in just four weeks.

In Sri Lanka this track was placed number one in several local radio stations for months on end. It was also number two for seven consecutive weeks in the BBC Radio Asian Chart hosted by Bobby Friction.

This single enjoyed airplay worldwide mainly due to its release as a part of the album titled 'DJ Nihal presents Bombay Bronx' released under HOM Records and Universal Music India. Furthermore this track receives massive airplay on the BBC Asian Network. In particular in the Adil Ray show featured in this station.
The Aloke Genadevi (remix) video clip is also set to be launched globally through several international T.V. stations. These include MTV India, Channel V India, B4U, Zee Music, MTV Desi USA, etc to name not all but just a few.
This video is a follow up to the immensely popular track Ahankara Nagare (remix), which was a collaboration of Iraj and Ranidu.

This track received airplay worldwide and was the first Sinhala track to gain international recognition. It was also the pioneer local track to receive airplay on MTV India and Channel V Asia.

Several renowned local movie stars have also been featured in this picturesque video clip together with several local hip hop artists - Kirshan Maheson, B.K. and Yawuanan.

Ranidu Lankage who is also known amongst all as Iraj's Co-Producer is also featured in this track. Ranidu is currently unavailable to promote this track locally as he is studying in New York. Ranidu's eagerly awaited third album is also due to be released this year.

Iraj and Ranidu will also be performing at the 'Bombay Bronx' concert to be held in March in London. This concert is hosted by BBC Radio One. Previous artists to be featured in this prestigious event include Jay Sean, Rishi Rish, Raghav, Veronica, Juggy D, Dr. Zeus, DJ Sanj, Outlandish, etc.
